I have been a big user of Momondo for a good few years now, I have even referenced it in some blog posts as I do find that their search engine usually comes up with the cheapest prices - or at least it shows me where the cheap flights can be found.
In fact, we've actually booked our next trip to Los Angeles via Momondo - for 1000,- cheaper than it's other competitors, like Kayak!
Two years ago I wrote about "How to find cheap flight tickets" recommending Momondo, and my loyalty to it hasn't faded.
To my surprise, a month ago they wrote to me asking if I could be interested in joining a competition they are hosting in celebration of their new Trip Finder option, I said absolutely!
I don't usually win in a lucky draws, but I am a proud user of the site, and was going to write about how great the site is anyways! Now I get to maybe win a dream trip? Oh yeah!
What I really like best about Momondo is they don't sell tickets directly, they are purely a search engine based in Copenhagen and my favourite part about their website is that I have always liked the graph they provide which tells you what the cheapest combination of dates usually are.
The site is also easy to use, it's user friendly, prices are stated very clearly, and you can mix and match an array of options.
I am a budget traveller, as far as I can help it, I will search the far and wide for the cheapest possible ticket options, but with sites like Momondo, they do it for me!
Anyhow, Momondo has upped their game once again and have come up with a new tab they call Trip Finder. It's basically an "Inspire me" button.
And I have played with it and dreamt my day away on it, and must admit that I love it.
Budget and time is always the main cause of why people say they can't travel as often as they want to, but with the new Trip Finder tab, you can just just specify, how much are you willing to spend, where you want to go, when and what are you wanting to do/see, and it will come up with a list of options for you to consider which in your price range, availability and in accordance to what you want to see/do!
Part of Momondo's competition asks us to choose where we would like to go if we had a 1500 EURO budget (which I calculated to be around 10 000,- Norwegian kr)
I narrowed down my options to Nature - visited too many cities last year; Africa - because I've not been to that continent; May - Magnar and I are celebrating an "anniversary" then and most importantly a max budget of 10 000,- kr for the two of us. I must I was a bit skeptical when I first looked around because I didn't have a big budget, but yet I had big plans. But lo and behold! Trip Finder came out with a whole bunch of suggestions for me to dream my day away!
After looking through the list, from Windhoek, Casablanca, Cape Town, Banjul, Lagos. Although all this are fun places I would love to visit one day, I found that if there is one place that sticks out more then the rest it would be Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania!
The more I read about Tanzania, the more I think what a great country with a little of everything! And I cannot believe I haven't thought of it before! And to be able to do it for under 10 000,- kr is just brilliant!
If Magnar and I were to head to Tanzania, we will start our trip at a Safari watching The Great Wildebeest Migration at Serengeti, Hike Mount Kilimanjaro, before heading to Zanzibar for a romantic time at the beaches, swimming, snorkelling and just watch the day go away. Have you ever seen the beaches of Zanzibar?!
Seriously, what can be more perfect?
And why didn't I think of it before myself?
Seriously, even if I don't "win" the competition, Magnar and I will definitely consider going here on our next available holiday!
Sometimes we make too many excuses to not see the world. Now we have no reasons not to.
PS : Momondo's competition is also open to blog readers! If you guys want to join, just write in the comment below, where you want to go if you had 1500 EURO and send me an email to colourmepeppermint(at)gmail.com
Seriously, All it takes is a few clicks and some dreaming, and who knows, you might be the lucky one to the destination of your dreams.
